Link is the protagonist of the Nintendo video game series The Legend of Zelda . He appeared in several incarnations during the game, as well as features in other Nintendo media, including merchandising, comic books, and cartoon series. He is one of Nintendo's main icons and one of the most famous and popular characters in video game history.
Through the series of The Legend of Zelda , Link is portrayed as a child, adolescent, or young adult of the Hylian race, originating from the fictional land of Hyrule. Links often travel through Hyrule, defeating creatures, evil forces, and series' main antagonist, Ganon, while trying to save Princess Zelda and Hyrule. To defeat Ganon, Link usually requires a mystical Master Sword and Light Arrows, or similar legendary weapons, obtained after many trials and battles. In his journey he will usually obtain various magical objects or other objects, including musical instruments and weaponry.
Link has also made several cameo appearances in several Mario games. He is a playable character via DLC in the latest installment to the Mario Kart game series, Mario Kart 8 . (He is available without download on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.) He is also a playable character in the series Super Smash Bros. , being one of the original eight original characters.

Character design
Links have almost no oral dialogue in the game series, except for the grunts, panting and screaming (not including the CD-i game). A prominent facial expression only seen since the series appeared on Nintendo 64. Link creator Shigeru Miyamoto said in an interview that the conceptualization of the The Legend of Zelda , and Links, is based on his childhood. memories of books, movies, stories, and personal experiences. He tries to get people to identify with Link and has a chance to be a hero like a character. Though at the end of some games, Link becomes very talented in physical and magical art, he usually starts the game as an ordinary boy. At the origin of the name "Link", Miyamoto says this: "The link name is derived from the fact that initially, Triforce fragments should be electronic chips. These games must be set in the past and past. The future and as the main character will travel between the two and become liaison between them, they call him Link. "
The links are left with the exception of the Link incarnation that appears in Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild . The Wii port of Twilight Princess is mirrored from the Gamecube version because of the ease with which the right-handed person uses game motion controls. There are several Link iterations in Hyrule history. The existence of multiple Links is made clear on many occasions in the game; for example, the introduction sequence The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker refers to a legendary, legendary hero in appearance with Link, and directly mentions "Hero of Time" (title given for Link in < i> Ocarina of Time ) as historical entities. Miyamoto has stated, "For every Zelda our game tells a new story, but we really have a great document that explains how the game relates to the other, and ties them together. They just are not so important to us We are more concerned about developing the game system... giving players new challenges for each chapter that is born. "However, the exact chronology of the Zelda series and the lineage of the various Links, although written by Miyamoto and his team, has long been kept secret. Nintendo released an anthology entitled Hyrule Historia in celebration of 25th Birthday Zelda . Released in Japan in December 2011 and in North America in early 2013, the anthology details the long-time schedule sought by Zelda .
Adolescent Link's appearance at The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time is designed with the aim of making her handsome and cooler than all her previous forms of heroes. In the Link cartoon design at The Wind Waker , Miyamoto explains, "Link is a young boy and tries to create a very active and very energetic young boy and tries to choose the right style to portray young Boys - in a game like that we try experiments. Our final decision is that cel-shading on The Wind Waker is the best choice to express it. "However, with the decision to create a teenage Link again at < i> The Legend of Zelda: Princess Twilight , Miyamoto explains, "Finally we decided that in showing Link teens really the best style to express it would be something that was closer to our graphic style at Ocarina of Time."
Depictions
In 3D games, starting with Ocarina of Time , Link is voiced by seven actors: Nobuyuki Hiyama as Adult Link; Fujiko Takimoto as a young Link; Sachi Matsumoto as Link at The Wind Waker ; Akira Sasanuma at Twilight Princess ; Y? Ki Kodaira at Spirit Tracks ; Takashi? Hara at Skyward Sword ; and Kengo Takanashi at Breath of the Wild . Since there is no legendary canonical Legend of Zelda to date which contains substantial spoken dialogs for player characters, this section consists only of short phrases, snorting, crying wars, and other sounds. In The Wind Waker , however, Link has been heard uttering the phrase, "Come on!" Voice acting in this series is deliberately restricted, so as not to conflict with the player's individual interpretation of the characters. In Breath of the Wild , if the player reads Zelda's diary, it states a canonical reason for silence. According to Zelda, Link does not speak because with so much at stake, and so much eyes on him, he feels the need to stay strong and quietly bear any burden.
This is also implied in the various games that Link does speak, as in a scene in Twilight Princess, where his mouth is seen moving while walking with his childhood friend Ilia, but not heard by the player.
Link is described by actor J.R. Killigrew in a live action Zelda trailer produced by Rainfall movie, an elaborate April Fools joke by IGN. While the trailer illustrates Links as faithfully as possible by not giving him any dialogue, fans keep in mind that Direct action links are the right hand; Director Sam Balcomb said that Killigrew did not have time to train his left hand. The Wii version of Twilight Princess is a duplicate copy of the GameCube version as most people are not left-handed, so the game characters match the real world hand movements for a large number of players.
Characteristics
Humble but brave, this attribute is consistent with Link's role as the right bearer of the Triforce of Courage. He is known as "Hero of the Skies" from Skyward Sword ; "Minish Hero" from Minish Cap ; The Four Who Are One of the "Four Swords"; "Heroes of Time" from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask ; "Hero Selected by God" from Twilight Princess (also called "Hero of Twilight" in fandom); "Hero of Light" from Four Swords Adventures ; "Hero of Legend" from Link's Awakening , Links to the Past , Oracle of Ages , and Oracle of Seasons ; "The New Hero of Hyrule" from A Link Between Worlds ; "Hero Hyrule" from the original The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link; "The Hero Of The Wild" from "Breath Of The Wild"; "The Hero of Trains" from "Spirit Tracks"; and "Hero of Winds" from The Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass .
Link is the preferred Master Sword master, a powerful magical sword that is the curse of all evil. As a child, he challenges Ganondorf to try to protect Zelda before he inadvertently helps Ganondorf find Triforce in Ocarina of Time, forcing Link to undo the damage he caused. The link has several family members, including an uncle on Links to the Past ; an invisible mother in Ocarina of Time, who died of escaping the war when Link was a baby; a grandmother who raised her and a sister, Aryll, in The Wind Waker ; and a grandfather on the The Minish Cap . He is also mentioned to have fathered in Breath of the Wild more than 100 years before the events. Her mother and father emerged as spirits in the official manga.
He is a young Hylian boy famous for his swordsmanship and against skillaon. Almost every Link iteration uses a green tunic and a long green Phrygian hat. He has long, pointy ears, a characteristic of Hylian helicopters. In the Zelda trading card released by Nintendo at the start of the series, it is stated that the pointy ears are a sign of the Hylian royal family. In episode 4 of Adult Saga in the official series of Ocarina of Time manga, "Link Vs. Link", Impa gives Link earrings, describing it as "a rite of passage for young Sheikah's men"; this then becomes the standard aspect of Link design, starting with Twilight Princess on Skyward Sword . He has a Triforce sign on his left hand (with the exception of Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess version), marking him as the one who will find Triforce of Courage. He uses lots of weapons and things, such as bombs, hookshot, boomerangs and bows and arrows. His transformation into a wolf while in Twilight Realm in Twilight Princess is a reflection of the mystical aspect that proves his status as a Triforce of Courage carrier and his heroism.
Although most of the titles in this series describe the Link as a lefty, this is not an unruly rule and can change between games. The Adventure of Link 'Booklet instructions describes Link settings "with a magical sword in his left hand and a magical shield on his right". In Links to the Past , he changed hands; although this is due to sprite mirroring, the reason for this is described in the official guide of Nintendo Player as Hylian superstition which requires a shield to always face Death Mountain (located in the North) to protect itself from the evil forces originating inside the mountain.. Starting with Link's Awakening , Link holds his sword in his left hand and his shield to his right, no matter which direction he is facing. In The Minish Cap , however, Link returns alternately holding its weapon in the right or left hand, depending on its orientation. At the beginning of Four Swords Plus motives ( Four Swords Adventures), Link is referred to as a "left-handed hero" after defeating the pirates who robbed the city of Hylian. Additionally, the Link Figurine description in The Wind Waker lists "his favorite hand" as left. However, in the animated TV series and Wii version of Twilight Princess, Link is not left-handed, but the latter is done to better reflect the game's control scheme. In the official artwork of the game, he is shown holding his sword in his left hand. In GameCube version, Link remains left-handed, because this game uses a traditional control scheme. Thus, Skyward Sword is the first game in the series featuring a definite right hand link, even with art concepts that reflect facts. This is done again for Breath of the Wild , where Link is right-handed canonical; this is done to reflect which side of the button on the controller is used for Link attacks. Legend of Zelda Series
Link debuted on February 21, 1986, with the release of Japan The Legend of Zelda . Described as a "young man" who rescued old nanny Princess Zelda Impa from Ganon's henchmen, Link assumes the role of the hero who sought to save Princess Zelda and Hyrule's kingdom from the evil wizard Ganon, who had stolen Triforce of Power.
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (1987) occurred a few years after the original game. Link goes on a quest to place the crystal in each of the six palaces in Hyrule, so that he can penetrate the Supremely Protected Great Palace, defeat the Shadow Link, claim Triforce of Courage, reunite three Triforce pieces, and wake Zelda's sleep.
The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (1991) is a prequel for the original game, and is the first game set in "Hero Drops", alternate timeline to "Adult Link" Timeline " and "Child Link Lines." A new Link must intercept the Agahnim wizard before he destroys the seal in the Dark World and unleashes Ganon's anger on Hyrule.Along the way, Link must collect three magical Pendant of Virtue and claim the legendary Master Sword before facing Agahnim Then he must travel to the Dark World to save the Seven Sages and defeat Agahnim and Ganon.
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (1993) happened moments after A Link to the Past , and Link feature traveled around the world to be ready if Ganon ever came to Hyrule again. When returning to Hyrule, Link's ship is caught in a storm and devastated. He washes up on the edge of a mysterious island named Koholint. Links were taken to the home of a kindly man named Tarin and his daughter, Marin. An owl talks tells him that the only way he can escape from Koholint Island is to awaken the "Fish Wind", a giant creature that slept in a colossal egg in the middle of the island. When the game is over, Link awakens in the middle of the ocean, along with the dreamer.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998) is the first 3D game in the series Zelda , and is the last game to occur in "Singular Timeline". Links must constantly travel between present and future by using the Ocarina of Time titular to stop Ganondorf's takeover of Hyrule. As a result, Link became known as the "Time Hero", and managed to stop Ganondorf both in the present (through Zelda's warning about his plot) and in the future (through direct combat and then seal it in Sacred Nature with the help of six wise men and Master's Sword). Link is also accompanied by a Navi elf, who gives him a clue about the enemy and/or his surroundings, which is the first series. The end of Ocarina of Time also primarily marks the segregation of chronological timeline in the game in the world: "Adult Link Time Path" occurs after Link defeats Ganondorf in the future, "Timeline of Child Link Chronology" takes place after he's taken back into the past and warns Zelda of his plot to conquer Hyrule, and "The Time of the Heroes of the Fall" takes place after he is defeated by Ganondorf in the future.
The Legend of Zelda: The Majora mask (2000) is a direct sequel to the Ocarina of Time, and comes a few months after Link defeated Ganon and was sent back in time to his childhood.. As a result, this is the first game set in "Linimasa Link Child", timetable for "Adult Link Liner" and "Heroes Time Schedule Damage". While searching for the Navi after he left it for an unknown reason at the end of Ocarina of Time, Link goes to Skull Kid, a character briefly displayed in Ocarina of Time, and mysteriously finally traveling to the land of Termina. He must save this land from the crime of Topeng Majora, which has pulled the moon into a decaying orbit, threatening to crash into the main city of Termina, Jam Town, in three days. Link uses the Ocarina of Time to play the Song of Time, which can be used to travel back in time when he plays it, to revive these three days repeatedly so that he can prevent disaster. Along the way, Link finds many of his magical masks, some of which allow him to change. The masks can turn it into a Goron, Deku Scrub, Zora or "Fierce Deity", a strong shape like an adult. Miyamoto said that "we want Link to enter the magical country, to experience adventure and think hard about what he should do."
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (2001) occur between Links to the Past and Link's Awakening . They feature Triforce who sends Link on missions to the alien lands of Holodrum and Labrynna to stop season disruption by General of Darkness, Onox, and time distractions by Sorceress of Shadows, Veran. After playing both games, he revealed that the events of both games are part of the evil plot by Twinrova to light the Flames of Destruction (ignited by Onox's actions), Sorrow (illuminated by Veran's actions), and Despair (light up when Zelda is kidnapped) as part of ritual to awaken Ganon. In the end, Link must save Zelda and defeat Twinrova before Ganon is resurrected.
In The Legend of Zelda: Links to the Past & amp; Four Swords (2002), Four Swords occur at some point after The Minish Cap and before Ocarina of Time . Zelda goes to Sanctuary of the Four Sword with her friend, Link, to examine the seal containing the evil Wind Mage, Vaati. But the seal was weakened, and Vaati appeared, kidnapped Zelda, and defeated Links. Later, Link found three fairies, who instructed him to draw Four Swords. Four Magic Swords divide them into four identical Links. The Link first wore his traditional green dress; the second, the red version; the third one, blue; and the fourth, purple. The Links must work together to overcome obstacles, collect keys, and invade the Vaati Palace so they can save Zelda and seal the Wind Mage again.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2002) occurs hundreds of years after the Ocarina of Time , and is the first game set in "Adult Link Timeline", an alternate timeline to "Child Link Time Line" and "Hidden Time Heroes". In it, the gods have flooded Hyrule to guard Triforce and people's security from Ganondorf after he broke the seal placed on it in the Ocarina of Time. All the land is under water except Hyrule's highest peak, which results in the creation of the Great Sea. At the beginning of the game, Link's younger brother, Aryll, was captured by King Helmaroc, a giant masked bird controlled by Ganondorf, who last searched for Princess Zelda. Link explores the Great Sea to save his sister and defeat King Helmaroc; his search is intertwined with The King of Red Lions, which, after many trials, entitles Links as "Heroes of the Wind". Using Wind Waker, the magic conductor's wand, he borrows the power of the gods to help him in his quest. The user interface of the stick is similar to the Ocarina of Time, but uses tempo and pitch to shape the tone. Link eventually had to reconstruct the Triforce of Courage and restore the power of the Master Sword to ward off evil against Ganondorf.
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (2004) is an indirect sequel to the Twilight Princess, and occurs hundreds of years after the game. Zelda and six other mystic girls, who worried about the seal in the Four Swords, went to check out the Sanctuary of the Four Sword, with the Link that accompanied them. However, dark and dark Link copies attack them. Link is forced to draw Four Swords to fight this Shadow Link, but when he does, he is divided into copies of himself like Links in Four Emords. With the extension, drawing Four Swords also produces Vaati escaping from the seal placed to him in the Four Swords.
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (2004) occurs between Skyward Sword and Four Swords , and features Link as a boy living with Grandpa, Master Smith of Hyrule. Link is a childhood friend of Princess Zelda, and on the day of Hyrule's annual celebration to celebrate the arrival of Picori, they go to join the celebration. The mysterious stranger, Vaati, appears and wins the sword fighting competition; every year the winner of this tournament gets the honor of touching the sacred Picory Blade. This sword is a gift to the Hylians of little Picori and has been used long ago by legendary heroes to defeat the forces of darkness and seal them on Dada Bound. Vaati destroys the knife and cursed Zelda, and it is up to Link to fix the sword, defeat the Vaati and save the princess. At the end of the game, Link has collected four elemental crystals, and put them into the White Sword, an incarnation of the Picori Blade. After the infusion, the White Sword becomes the Four Swords, which connect the Vaati seal, set the scene for the previously released Four Sword game.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (2006) occurred more than a century after the Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask . In the game, Link is a teenage farm boy who leads a fairly normal life in the pastoral village of Ordon until his two friends, Colin and Ilia, are kidnapped by monsters. During his journey to save them, Link finds that the entire Hyrule kingdom has been covered by a dark twilight, where most people are reduced to nothing more than spirits. However, Link turned into a wolf upon entering the twilight. While in this form, he is assisted by Midna, an unloved creature, and finally cleans the ground from dusk. However, in his attempt to save his friends, Link discovers an even bigger crime only he can stop. During the game, Link travels in the normal world in human form and when exposed to dusk, returns to his wolf form. During his journey, he was trained in the art of the sword by a spirit called "Hero's Shade", which was revealed in Hyrule Historia to be the Time Hero of the Ocarina of Time and Major Mask . Because of lamenting that he was never remembered as a hero, and did not lower his skills to the next generation, Hero's Shade could not continue to the afterlife after his death. After teaching his offspring the sword skills he learned during his own life, Hero's Shade finally relieved his regrets, and proceeded to the Hereafter while giving his blessings blessing. Crossbow Link Training , the spin-off of the series, also takes place in the Twilight Princess setting.
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (2007) is a direct sequel to The Wind Waker , and is set up several months after Link defeats Ganondorf in the game. Link embarks on a quest to reunite with Tetra after he is lost to Ghost Ship and turned to stone by the game's main antagonist, Bellum. Phantom Hourglass revived the use of companion friends such as in Ocarina of Time and Masora Majority , but also featured Links in collaboration with Captain Linebeck in order to perform a trip to the World of the Ocean King, a world parallel to the Great Sea. After finding the spirit of courage, wisdom, and strength, Link finally leads to the Ghost Ship and rescues Tetra before facing Bellum at the Temple of the King of the Seas.
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (2009) is a sequel of Phantom Hourglass , and is set a century after the game. Unknown amount of time after Phantom Hourglass , Link, Tetra, and his pirates find new ground and refill it with New Hyrule. In this game, Link can travel across the main world by train, and accompanied by the spirit of Princess Zelda, who is a descendant of Tetra. Link and Zelda must return Spirit Tracks to the New Hyrule and restore Princess Zelda's body from Chancellor Cole after she uses it to revive Malladus, the Devil King who once destroyed the land that will become New Hyrule.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (2011) is the first game to occur in the "Singular Timeline", which is the timeline of Zelda game before its split at the end of the Ocarina of Time . Thus, he explores the beginning of the battle between goodness and evil in the series, and the formation of Hyrule and the legends of both Link and Zelda. Link was born and raised in Skyloft, a land floating above the clouds. Link is Zelda's childhood friend, who in this game is not a princess, but a college friend at Knight Academy. The land under the cloud is known only as Surface, and Link is forced to go there after Zelda is kidnapped. He must travel between two lands in this adventure. He uses a sword called the Goddess Sword, a magic sword that holds Fi - a servant to the goddess Hylia - which allows him to travel across two worlds. During his journey, Link cultivated the Goddess's Sword with three sacred flames, which resulted in it being reforged to the Master Sword.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (2013) is a sequel of A Link to the Past , and occurs centuries after the game and Link's Awakening me. Link is a blacksmith apprentice who is forced to rescue the Seven Sages, the descendants of the original saints who sealed the Holy Land many years ago, after Yuga, a shaman who has the ability to "join" into the wall and turn people into paintings , taking them to another world, the Kingdom of Lorule, in the form of a painting to revive Ganon. The ability to "join" into the wall is a new additional mechanics for Links. Appearance Links are very similar to those depicted in artwork from 1986 The Legend of Zelda . During the trip, Link meets Ravio, a rabbit masked merchant who Link agrees to stay home in exchange for his services. In the climax of the game, Ravio is revealed to be Tonsu Lorule's partner, and he goes to Hyrule to recruit Link to stop Yuga and Princess Hilda stealing Triforce Hyrule, as he believes destroying Hyrule to revive Lorule is worse than letting his empire crumble.
The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (2015) is a direct sequel to A Link Between Worlds , and is set several years after the game. Despite displaying the art style used in The Wind Waker , it still has the same Link feature, which answers the call for the hero of King Tuft of the fashion-focused Hytopia empire. Her daughter, Princess Styla, has been cursed by Lady Maud the wizard for wearing an ugly jumpsuit that is impossible to erase. Connect allies with two other heroes who look identical to them, despite displaying red and blue schemes, to defeat Lady Maud and lift the curse.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017) is set thousands of years after Ocarina of Time , though not specified, does it occur in "Adult Link Timeline", "Child Link Timeline ", or" Fallen Hero Timeline ". Link awakens after a century in a stasis pod, and comes to discover that a demonic force called Calamity Ganon has been trapped in Hyrule Castle while he is in stasis. Over the last century, Hyrule has fallen into ruin in Ganon Calamity, as most have been reclaimed by the desert. Link learns that Calamity Ganon is slowly gaining strength, and that he must defeat him before he escapes from the castle and destroys the world. During his adventures, it was revealed that Link was the Hylian Champion and Zelda's daughter who was designated as a knight before his stasis. He is the chosen hero to use the Master Sword to defeat Calamity Ganon, but is almost killed while protecting Zelda, which encourages the Sheikah to put him in stasis to heal him. It is revealed by Zelda that Link is the son of a knight at the Royal Guard, and that he rarely speaks because he feels the need to bear the great weight placed upon him in silence.
Spin-off splits and other series
Links appear on Links: Crime Face , Zelda: Gamelan Sticks and Zelda Adventure , first Zelda > spin games -off has been released, although it can only be played on The Faces of Evil and is relegated to a secondary role in The Wand of Gamelon and Zelda's Adventure. . At the beginning of the The Faces of Evil , Link and King Hyrule were visited by a wizard named Gwonam, who told them that Ganon and his slaves had seized the peaceful island of Koridai and captured Zelda. After being told that only he can defeat Ganon, Link travels to Koridai to find a magical artifact known as the Book of the Torch. In the last two matches, the roles are reversed and Zelda must save the Link from Ganon. While the game was licensed by Nintendo to use the official Zelda character, none were manufactured or supervised by Nintendo. In addition to being critically recognized, there is no Nintendo-recognized Zelda Zelda CD game as part of the official chronology of the series. Unlike the main game, Link actually speaks in this version and is voiced by Jeffrey Rath. His personality reflects the series of animated series in which he misses adventure and continues to try to get a kiss from Zelda.
The most prominent spin-off appearance of Link is in the series Super Smash Bros. Because he is one of only twelve characters appearing in every entry of the series since his debut in 1999. In the eponymous series of installments, the mature version of the Ocarina of Time incarnation is wrong one of eight playable characters at first. He uses some of the weapons featured in the Zelda series, including his signature Master Sword, Bomb, Boomerang and Hookshot. Link is one of fifteen playable originally played on Super Smash Bros. Melee , a sequel in 2001 for Super Smash Bros. In Melee , he uses the bow next to Zelda the item he uses in Super Smash Bros. and no longer the sole serial representation of Zelda ]. However, Melee also marked the first time the series Super Smash Bros. will feature two versions of Link, as "Young Link", the child's version of the Links in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask , appears as a character that can be opened. Compared to the adult version, Young Link is weaker overall, but it's faster, more agile, can jump over a wall and use Kokiri Sword and Fire Bow instead of Master Sword and Bow, respectively.
Link is one of the first characters confirmed on the Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, although the incarnation of the Twilight Princess appeared in its later adult version of the Incarnation Ocarina of the Time . The items have been redesigned or even changed instantly as a result, such as having a Gale Boomerang and Clawshot instead of Boomerang and Hookshot. Like any other character, Link has received "Final Smash", a very powerful special attack that can only be used once. In the case of Link, the Final Smash is Triforce Slash, a series of sword blows done on the opponent trapped in the Triforce-shaped energy field. The Redesign Link also indirectly influences Young Link, as it is replaced by a character that can be opened "Toon Link", the name used for the Link Incarnation of The Wind Waker which also reappears in Phantom Hourglass . Though very different aesthetically, Toon Link's ability is very similar to Young Link, as he is a faster, more agile but weaker partner to Link, with whom he also shares the same Final Smash.
Both Link and Toon Link are back at Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U , with Toon Link now available instead of having to be unlocked. Both Links retain their belongings from Brawl and are once again the incarnation of the Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker, respectively. However, both of their designs undergo some aesthetic changes, especially having less realistic details and brighter color schemes, while they also receive a new alternative costume that refers to a number of Zelda games such as Skyward Sword , Mask Majora and Links to the Past .
Link is revealed as one of the first characters to return to Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch. Unlike previous versions, this one seems to be based on its incarnation of Breath of the Wild .
Besides referenced as an alternate costume in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U , Skyward Sword Incarnation Links either directly appear on or referenced in some games through Zelda content that can be downloaded. He appeared as a playable character on Mario Kart 8, along with the Hyrule Circuit race track, Triforce Cup and a set of vehicles consisting of "Master Cycle", "Triforce Tyres" and " Hylian Kite ". He also appeared on Sonic Lost World as part of "The Legend of Zelda Zone", where he rode his signature Crimson Loftwing. He is also referenced in Monster Hunter 4, with his tunic-like armor that can be used and worn by male and female hunters.
The link appears in Hyrule Warriors as playable characters. This incarnation is Hyrulian warrior training that helps lead the campaign against evil forces. Young Links from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask also appear in the game as playable characters through downloadable content, while Toon Link from The Wind Waker appears as playable characters in the Hyrule Warriors Legends , the Nintendo 3DS Warriors port . In GameCube version of Namco Soulcalibur II , Link is a featured character. Although it appears synonymous with the adult version of Links of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, this Link is an entirely separate incarnation. Thus, little is known about this incarnation, but what is known is that after rescuing Hyrule from the evil wizard controlled by the Soul Edge fragment, Link traveled to the wizarding world on the secret mission set by Princess Zelda to destroy the Soul. Edge. Miyamoto does not see the problem with the Link that appears in what some consider as a "violent fighting game", as he has been designated as a fighter in the series Super Smash Bros. . Link is the only character on Soulcalibur II to use remote weapons and the only guest character to have its own musical theme and more than two costumes.
Link is planned to perform together with Samus Aran at Marvel: Ultimate Alliance , but then deleted. The Linked Incarnation of The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker , Twilight Princess and Tri Force Heroes also appears as a Costume "Mystery Mushroom" in Super Mario Maker , which was unlocked by completing 100 Mario Challenge or by scanning each of Amiibo's characters.
Among the SNES games, Link, along with the Metroid series protagonist Samus Aran, made a cameo on Super Mario RPG, where they were seen sleeping in separate beds at an inn. Another reference for Link is in the release of Japanese NES game Final Fantasy , where the grave in Elfheim is marked "Here Is the Link". It was converted into a grave for Erdrick of Dragon Warrior when translated into English, although it was restored in the English release of Game Boy Advance, PlayStation, iPod touch/iPhone and PlayStation Portable versions. Link also makes great acting at Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Country 3: The Dixie Kong Double Dictionary! , with reference to the shell collection from > Link's Awakening also being created. Some weapons and Link items appear in some games; Master Sword appears on Virtual Hydlide In other media
In the animated series The Legend of Zelda, Link, voiced by Jonathan Potts, featured in a set of cartoons aired from 1989-1990 as part of DIC's Super Mario Bros Super Show! Loosely based on the first game, the cartoons show Link as a rough and affectionate teenager. Continue to chase Zelda and be accompanied by the fairy daughter of Spryte, she begged Zelda to kiss her, and exclaimed, "Gee, sorry, Princess!" when tired with his attitude. Thirteen episodes were produced before the cancellation of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show . The full series was released on October 18, 2005. A slightly altered version of this Link (and Zelda) appeared during the second season Captain N: The Game Master .
A comic series was created for Nintendo Power magazine by renowned writer Shotaro Ishinomori, and later collected in graphic novel. This says an alternate version of the event from A Link to the Past . Though Link started a poor, awkward boy, he showed great courage and proved himself to be a persistent and competent adventurer. He has a fairy friend, Epheremelda, long before the concept was introduced into a video game. This reading describes Link's parents as the Hyrule Knights, lost to the Dark World. These include the original character, Roam, descendants of the Hyrule Knights who fought in the War of Imprisonment. At the end of the story, Zelda has become Queen, and Link is the head of the Royal Guard and Knights of Hyrule. The success is bitter, because their tasks make them apart, even though they are ever close, share adventure and even get together in a dream. There are manga based on The Legend of Zelda , Ocarina of Time , Majora's Mask , Oracle of Ages , Oracle of Seasons, Four Swords Adventures, Links to the Past and The Minish Cap .
Reception and inheritance
The character was overall well received by the critics, and was awarded a star on the Walk of Game in 2005 along with its creator, Shigeru Miyamoto.
