MAC Cosmetics , styled as MÃ,  · AÃ,  ° C , is a cosmetics manufacturer founded in Toronto in 1984 by Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo. The company is headquartered in New York City and became part of Està © e Lauder Companies in 1998. MAC stands for Make-up Art Cosmetics .

During his time as a photographer and makeup artist, co-founder Frank Toskan recognizes the lack of appropriate colors and textures needed to maximize performance and makeup results for these industries. The company's products were originally intended for makeup professionals, but sold directly to consumers around the world. Frank Toskan states that he "first made makeup for the model, but then the models wanted this makeup for sisters, friends, and so on...". In the 1990s, the brand had more than a hundred stores worldwide, generating 200 million francs. Collections are sold out within a few hours not only in MAC stores but also at other retailers carrying collectibles such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Macy's. Fans lined up for hours to get their collections, but some went empty-handed. Due to the high demand for this collection, MAC refill collection in December 2016.
In May 2017, MAC Cosmetics became available for purchase online at Ulta Beauty. Products became available in stores in June 2017.
On August 24, 2017, MAC Cosmetics announced that the collection involved with the Aaliyah singer's late plantation will be available in the summer of 2018. The official release date for the "MAC Aaliyah" collection will be available on June 20th online and June 21st at the stores. MAC AIDS Fund was established in 1994 to support men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS globally by addressing the relationship between poverty and HIV/AIDS.
