A seafarer is a uniform traditionally worn by marine sailors registered, and other government-funded sea services. It later evolved into a popular clothing style for children, especially as a change of clothes.

Origin and history
In the Royal Navy, seafarers' or naval rig suits are known as the Number One uniforms and are used by a reliable price and a lead hand. It is primarily ceremonial, though it comes from the old Royal Navy sailor's working rig which has changed constantly since it was first introduced in 1857.
The blue jean collar is probably the most easily recognizable item of the seafarer's suit, and tradition says that it comes from a time when sailors wore a jagged pigtail. This is actually wrong, because the collar is not part uniform until after the pigtail is gone. The three lines have nothing to do with Nelson's three victories but are only standardized to three when uniformly arranged. Often considered lucky to touch the sailor's collar.
Bell bottom pants are designed so that they can be rolled easily while rubbing the deck. Ratings are used to have five or seven horizontal folds and this does not represent the seven oceans or the five oceans but depends on the length of the sailor's feet.
Lanyards were originally used to carry bosun pipes, wind instruments like whistles that sounded at such moments before issuing orders.
In the United States, the first standard uniform was issued in 1817. Through government procurement, winter and summer uniforms were provided. White duck jackets, trousers and vests consist of summer uniforms, while winter uniforms consist of blue jackets and trousers, red vests with yellow buttons and black hats.
Seafarers' suits are also worn by sailors in the Royal Canadian Navy and disappeared in 1968 when the Canadian Forces were established and uniforms were standardized for unified troops.

In 1846, the four-year-old Albert Edward, Prince of Wales was given a reduced version of the uniform worn by the ratings at Royal Yacht. She wore a miniature sailor suit while sailing on the Channel Islands in September, pleasing her mother and the public. Popular sculptures, including the famous portrait by Winterhalter, propagated the idea, and by the 1870s, seaman suits had become normal attire for boys and girls around the world. Some Western cartoon and comic characters use seaman clothes as their trademark; examples include Popeye, Donald Duck and Spoiled Bastard. Seafarers' clothing has been worn by members of the Vienna Children's Choir on their international tour.
The female version of the seafarer's suit, the sailor's dress, was known in the early 20th century as a Peter Thomson dress in the early 20th century after a naval tailor based in New York and Philadelphia.
While performing Sailor's Hornpipe dance, a Highland character dancer should wear a sailor suit.
Asia seafarers' uniforms
Many schools in some Asian countries, usually in Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, North Korea, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand, have adopted seaman clothes as school uniforms.
Japanese
Seafarers 'dress is very common in Japanese girls' schools, known as Japanese sailors by Japanese. They are so common that the clothing image has grown to be strongly associated with teenagers and girls in popular culture. As a result, seafarers' uniforms are very often seen in Japanese teenage dramas, movies, anime, manga, music videos, and concerts of pop teen idol groups (mainly by Hello! Project, AKB48, Nogizaka46, and Onyanko Club).
