Histori
Great Mall of Great Plains jointly developed by Glimcher Realty Trust and Jordan Robert Perlmutter & amp; Co. The mall is intended to showcase "value-oriented megamall" with a mix of outlet outlets, traditional malls, large box retail, and entertainment venues, comparable to the mall developed by Mills Corporation. Construction began in Great Mall of the Great Plains in 1996.
Originally scheduled to open in March 1997, the mall did not open until August 14 of that year, due to lease. At the opening, this mall has several storage stores: Linens' n Things, Burlington Coat Factory, Oshman SuperSports USA, Marshalls, USA Clothing Group Company, Foozles Bookstore, and Dillard Liberation Center. Other original features of the mall include a family entertainment center called Jeepers, which later became Zonkers. A pujasera, and the Dickinson cinema are also in the mall. Great Mall of Great Plains opens with 150 stores arranged in a "half-mile" horse race pattern. The mall is the largest outlet mall in the state of Kansas.

Closure
Despite the highly successful opening that attracted more than 1.5 million visitors, some analysts assert that Great Mall of the Great Plains saw its success fade away over time, partly because of retail saturation in the market. Others indicate that the tenants of the anchor shop are of a variety usually relegated to strip malls that do not require higher rents than large covered shopping malls.
Although Off 5 opened as an additional anchor store in 1999, the mall lost three anchor stores shortly thereafter. Dillard closed down its liberation center in 2001, and was soon replaced with VF Outlet. A year later, both Oshman and Linens' n Things were closed as well, as did Off 5th. Marshall also moved to the nearest strip center in 2005, while Steve & amp; Barry opened in 2005, and Famous Labels opened in 2007 but soon closed in late 2009. Food food has several restaurants in it. In early 2009, The Steve & amp; Barry is closed as part of a national bankruptcy.
At the beginning of the Securities and Exchange Commission filing in early 2008, Glimcher Realty Trust expressed a desire to sell Great Great Great Plains Mall. On January 6, 2009, Glimcher sold Great Mall of the Great Plains to focus on more valuable assets for Cecil Van Tuyl of Van Tuyl Group. Mall is currently managed by MC Realty Group, LLC.
On Monday, February 16, 2015, the mall announced that it will close in autumn 2015 due to lack of tenants and customers. At that time, less than half of the mall shops opened.
In June 2015, all the restaurants in the food court were closed and only about half of the malls remained open. Cosmic Mini Golf is closed on June 13, 2015. In mid-July 2015, only 5 tenants inside the mall are left - Burlington Coat Factory, B & B Cinema, Sportibles, Zonkers Family Entertainment Center, and Kansas SIM Bureau. Zonkers Family Entertainment Center closed on 2nd August 2015 and B & B closed on August 17, 2015. Sportibles closed about a week longer than that. On September 1, 2015, the mall was completely empty with the exception of Burlington and the Office of Driver License. The mall closes on September 18, 2015. The Driver License office closes on December 16, 2015, leaving Burlington Coat Factory as the only shop left on that date.

On January 2, 2018, the developers announced a redevelopment plan that called for a small downtown area that would include 4,000 to 5,000 seats, an ice rink, interactive golf and rock climbing alongside many shops, restaurants, hotels and office space.
