Queen of the Black Coast

The first comic book adaptation of the Howard Conan story is a feature of La Reina de la Costa Negra (taken from the original Conan story, "Queen of the Black Coast") in the Mexican miniature anthology title Cuentos de Abuelito # 8 (1952) published by Editorial Corporacion Mexicana, SA. The series features the main characters, Conan and BÃÆ'ªlit, although Conan is described as blonde rather than black-haired. Problems 8 through 12 adapt Howard's original story, while the next issue presents original material. This feature runs on almost every issue of Cuentos de Abuelito via number 61. The separate series stands La Reina de la Costa Negra series published by Ediciones Mexicanas Asocidas in 1958-1959 lasted for at least eleven problems. In 1965-66 Ediciones Joma published a comic sized standard La Reina de la Costa Negra that runs for at least 53 problems.

Marvel Comics

Marvel Comics introduced a faithful version of Conan in 1970 with Conan the Barbarian , written by Roy Thomas with art originally by Barry Windsor-Smith, then John Buscema and Ernie Chan (aka Ernie Chua). The highly successful Conan the Barbarian series gave birth to a more mature, black and white Savage Sword of Conan in 1974, by Thomas, Buscema, and Alfredo Alcala. Savage Sword of Conan soon became one of the most popular comic strips of the 1970s and is now considered a classic movie.

The stories of Marvel Conan are also adapted as newspaper comic strips appearing every day and Sunday from 4 September 1978, to 12 April 1981. Originally written by Roy Thomas and illustrated by John Buscema, the strip was continued by several different Marvel artists and writers.

Judul Marvel Conan lainnya selama bertahun-tahun termasuk Savage Tales (1971 - 1975, edisi 1-5 saja), Giant-Size Conan (1974-1975), King Conan/Conan the King (1980-1989), Conan the Adventurer (1994-1995), Conan (1995-1996), dan Conan the Savage (1995-1996).

Dark Horse Comics

Dark Horse Comics began taking over Conan in 2003.

The first comic series published was written by Kurt Busiek and Tim Truman and written by Cary Nord and Tomas Giorello. This was followed by Conan the Cimmerian , written by Tim Truman and written by Tomas Giorello, Richard Corben and JosÃÆ'Ã… © Villarrubia. This series is a fresh interpretation, based only on the works of Robert E. Howard and on the Dale Rippke chronology, with no regard to the great Marvel run.

Dark Horse Comics also published a digital compilation of the 1970s Conan the Barbarian series of Marvel Comics in a graphic-novel format, by Roy Thomas (author), Barry Windsor-Smith, John Buscema, Ernie Chan ( artist) and more.
