Beautiful Chaos is a young adult fantasy novel by writers Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. This book is the third entry in the Caster Chronicles series and was released on October 18, 2011. Dark Beautiful debuted at number 45 on the USA Today bestseller list.

Plot
Beautiful Chaos occurred shortly after the events in the previous book. Lena and Ethan once again are a couple, but her Claiming both Light and Dark has some serious repercussions, because it upsets the Order of things. Meanwhile Ethan finds himself slowly changing. She can not eat even her favorite food without becoming sick, start hearing voices, seeing mysterious writings, and her dreams make it impossible for her to sleep. Ethan also finds himself starting to slowly lose his memory and see a stranger in his mirror, something that Amma reacts abnormally. Suspicious, Ethan and Link follow Amma as she travels to visit the male Seer. They decide to return later to visit him, where they find that because Ethan was revived in the events on Beautiful Creatures, his soul was brought back too quickly and cracked as a result. Part of his soul is in the underworld and unless Ethan brings the two back together, he will eventually change more and eventually lose himself completely. Link asks about how this will be possible, only to Seeker mentions that he and Amma make a deal and then refuse to decipher it.
As the turmoil in Gatlin increases, Ethan and Lena try to find a way to save the city. They find that "One Who Two" must be sacrificed so that the Order is restored to equilibrium. It is believed that this man is Lena, for he has claimed the Light and Darkness, only for them to discover that it is not him because he is destined to bind the New Order once this person is sacrificed. The group briefly believed that it was John and the group traveled to the city's water tower so John could commit suicide. Once there, John shares a brief moment with Liv, whom he loves, before jumping off the tower. John narrowly avoids death, as stated through one voice in Ethan's head that John was not a sacrifice and that the group was transported back to Ethan's room by Seer.
Ethan finally finds out that he is the one destined to be the victim to restore the Order and spend the rest of the night in the arms of Lena. The next day, he spends his last hours with his loved ones, then searches for Lena so he can say goodbye. Lena begs him not to be a victim and that nothing else matters besides him. Two prize exchanges, Ethan gave Lena his map from various locations he planned to travel and Lena gave him the necklace of his memory. Ethan makes Lena swear to tie the New Order after her death, only for Lena to be hysterical. For the last moment they were together, he held it until it was time to leave. After leaving Lena, Ethan turned to his house and father for the last time, and faced Amma for his knowledge of his death and sacrifice.
Ethan arrives in the tower with John, only for Amma to appear and declare that he is present for his birth and will do the same for his death, even though this is not the day. He tried several times to rescue Ethan using his strength and the strength of his ancestors, who were troubled by the arrival of Macon and eventually ended up with the Greats turning his back on him. Ethan then climbs into the water tower and tries to jump, only to be stopped by the other half. Fighting two, finally rolling over the side of the water tower and slamming to the ground. Before he fell, Ethan thought about Lena.

Reception
Critical acceptance for Beautiful Chaos is mostly positive, with TeenReads calling the end of the book "confusing". Book Review RT gives a book 4 1/2 stars, saying it's "a must-read for followers of the series". VOYA writes that the book is "layered," but sometimes inconsistent.
